Halloween is probably the one night a year when finding an eyeball on your pizza isn’t a bad thing.
From fuelling up before trick-or-treating to snacking during a horror movie marathon, pizza fits pretty neatly into the 31st of October. And, with a little creativity, your usual slice can look considerably more spooky.
We’ve been digging through Pinterest for some of our favourite Halloween pizza ideas to give you some spooky inspiration.
Aprons on. Things are about to get creepy.
A Halloween pizza is any pizza that has been given a creepy makeover for the occasion.
That could mean arranging the toppings into a jack-o’-lantern face, turning olives into spiders, or shaping the dough itself into a ghostly figure. There aren’t really any rules here. If it looks suitably spooky and still tastes delicious, you’re on the right track.
If you’re wondering how to make Halloween pizza at home, most of the ideas below use familiar ingredients in slightly more creative ways, making them easy to recreate.
We’re starting with one of the easiest Halloween transformations: tiny ghosts floating across a Cheese & Tomato pizza.
To transform your pizza, simply cut pieces of mozzarella into ghost shapes, then use little pieces of block olive for their eyes and mouths. They don’t need to match either. An entire pizza of slightly different ghost expressions is all part of the charm.
Feeling a little more ambitious? Why not turn the entire pizza into something that can stare back at you?
This idea uses a skull mould and pepperoni to create oversized eyes, with pieces of cheese forming the nose and a seriously toothy grin.
Arrange the different features across a round pizza, and you’ve got yourself a Halloween dinner-table centrepiece.

Our first ghost-inspired pizza had the ghouls sat politely on top. This time, the pizza itself gets the costume.
Instead of stretching the dough into the usual circle, shape it into a ghost before adding your sauce and cheese. Pepperoni can create the eyes and an open mouth, and there’s absolutely no need to make your ghost perfectly symmetrical.
You can also take an easier route and make a pumpkin-shaped pizza, which requires significantly less faff as both are round! For this, simply cut your pepperoni (or plant-based alternative) into triangles for the mouth, nose, and eyes.

A spiderweb can make a familiar pizza look Halloween-ready with just a little decoration.
Create the web across the top using pale cheese or sauce, working from the centre towards the crust.
Finish things off with an edible spider made from black olives, and you’ve got something suitably creepy without changing your favourite toppings underneath.

Mini pizzas lend themselves very nicely to becoming tiny mummies.
Simply add your tomato sauce, then lay thin strips of mozzarella across the top to create the bandages, leaving a little space for two black olive eyes to peer through.
This is also a great one to make with kids, because the mozzarella bandages don’t need to be neat to look the part.
Give the pumpkins a night off and put that familiar jack-o’-lantern grin onto your pizza instead.
Use cut pieces of cheese, pepperoni (or a plant-based alternative), puff pastry, or your other favourite toppings to create triangular eyes, a nose and that unmistakable jagged smile.
You can keep the design simple or see just how elaborate you can make your pizza pumpkin.

A rectangular pizza makes a very convincing Frankenstein’s monster with a few carefully placed toppings.
Use green vegetables to add some monster colour, then create the hair, eyes, mouth, and all-important stitches with ingredients such as peppers, pepperoni and olives.
A few wonky features only make the finished face look more convincingly monstrous.

Not every Halloween pizza idea needs to be complicated. Sometimes, one creepy addition is enough.
Cut wraps or tortillas into simple bat shapes and arrange them across the top of your pizza. Small pieces of black olive can give the bats faces, while whatever lies underneath can stay as cheesy, meaty, or veggie-packed as you like.

Mushrooms have been hiding a surprisingly useful Halloween talent. Cut small eyes and a nose into the mushroom caps and add a few little lines to the stalk to create teeth.
Scatter the finished skulls across your pizza and an everyday veggie topping suddenly looks much more sinister.
Once they’re baked into the pizza, the mushrooms look surprisingly creepy for something that was probably sitting in your fridge earlier that day.
Finally, why settle for one pair of eyes when your dinner could have dozens?
Use rounds of pale cheese for your eyeballs, then add slices of olives or small pieces of pepper to create the pupils. Scatter them across the pizza at different angles for the full creepy effect.
Probably best not to think too hard about them watching you take the first slice.
