Lincoln's ladies are queens of Pizza GamesMonday 8th February
Three teams of expert pizza makers have proved they are a cut above the rest by competing at the annual Papa John’s Pizza Games.
Pizzaiolos from stores in Lincoln, Taunton and Caterham battled it out in the final of the tournament at Papa John’s annual conference in Old Windsor on Tuesday, 3rd February. They had each won regional heats which places them among Papa Johns’ top UK outlets.
In the final each team was challenged to make 11 quality pizzas which
were judged on all aspects of the pizza making process, including dough
slapping, placement and quantity of toppings, and of course the taste
of the finished product. An 18 minute time limit was set to mirror the
speed at which pizzas are made in Papa John’s stores across the country.

Louise Wass, Caroline Lane, Shona Reid and Cat Webb from the Lincoln store have been crowned the Pizza Games Champions because their pizzas were judged to be of the highest quality. They each win £1000.
The Caterham team came second and took home a cheque for £2000, while reigning champions Taunton came in third to win £1000.

To cap off a memorable day for the teams, they were handed their cheques by Papa John’s founder John Schnatter, who flew in from the USA especially for the event.
John said: “All three teams showed incredible skill and speed in the Pizza Games, and I congratulate them on their success. Although getting pizzas to our customers quickly is a priority, we never compromise on quality and truly live up to our ‘Better Ingredients, Better Pizza’ pledge. All our dough is 100% fresh so cooking 11 high quality pizzas in such a short space of time is a fantastic achievement.”
