Jimmy on cue to launch Everyman pizza

Snooker legend Jimmy ‘Whirlwind’ White, MBE, has teamed up with Papa John’s and the Everyman Male Cancer Campaign to cue up some additional fundraising.
Jimmy, who’s a testicular cancer survivor, has put his support behind the Papa John’s Everyman pizza which will allow customers to raise money while tucking into their dinner.
The pizza company, which is the third largest in the world, is now selling the ‘Everyman’ pizza in all its UK stores - with 50p from every one sold helping the charity in its bid to stamp out male cancer.
Long term Everyman supporter White joined Papa John’s founder John Schnatter and a team of pizzaiolos at a training session to make the new pizzas, and praised the chain for its commitment to the cause.
Jimmy said: “Everyman is a very dear charity to me. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1995 during a routine check up and successfully operated on the next day.
“It is important that people recognise the tell-tale signs and the importance of acting on them. Everyman is trying to raise awareness to help stamp out male cancer and I was delighted to help when I found out about the pizza Papa John’s is launching.
“Papa John’s are giving 50p from each Everyman pizza they sell to the campaign which undertakes life-saving research into prostate and testicular cancers. It has been my pleasure to add my support to this fundraising activity and as an added bonus I got to try out the pizza ahead of the launch - which was really fantastic!”
The Everyman Campaign is dedicated to stamping out male cancer by making everyone recognise the tell-tale signs, and understand the importance of treating them. By increasing this awareness it hopes to raise money to fund life-saving research.
Tatjana Trposka, from the Everyman Campaign, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Papa John’s and really hope that pizza lovers will enjoy the limited edition Everyman pizza. Not only will they have a delicious meal, but they’ll also be doing their bit to raise funds for our vital research into male cancers.”
Simon Wallis, director of marketing at Papa John’s, said: “We’ve teamed up with Everyman because research into male cancers remains severely under-funded. We knew that the best way to help would be to look to our strengths – and this is why we have launched our delicious Everyman pizza, which sees us donate 50p from every pizza sold.
“The Everyman pizza features Meatballs, Red Peppers, Green Peppers and Onions. As well as tasting great you can be confident that you are helping raise much needed funds for the fantastic Everyman Campaign. We will be raising money for the charity in other ways throughout the year, so watch this space!”
Speaking about his own experiences with cancer, Jimmy offered the following advice for others: “I think for young men it is important not to be ashamed. The stigma of going to the doctor isn’t helping anyone. Be strong, there is a very good survival rate and thank Everyman for being there to help.”
