It’s full steam ahead for Papa John’s Pizza’s UK and Ireland expansion plans after a key role to attract new franchise partners was filled.

Alan Mason has become the company’s new director of property and franchising position after 10 years experience in senior property and development.

Papa John’s has an investment plan to grow from its current 99 trading stores in the UK to more than 300 by 2016. And in order to achieve its ambitious aim, the director of property and franchising role was created for the first time.

Papa John’s has outlined a number of objectives that must be achieved in order to achieve its expansion goal, which has made Alan’s appointment all the more important.

Managing director Ian Saunders said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Alan Mason as director of property and franchising for Papa John’s in the UK and Ireland.

“Alan will be responsible for the combined areas of acquisition, store development and estate management as well as the attraction and recruitment of new franchise partners for our business.

“Alan has over 10 years experience in senior property and development roles in a number of hospitality businesses including Rileys, Pizza Hut, Luminar Leisure, Scottish & Newcastle and Allied Domecq. “

Papa Johns’ exciting expansion plans were reinforced at the company’s recent annual conference in Windsor, which starred  founder John Schnatter, who flew in from Louisville especially to praise existing franchise partners for their hard work.
He said: “We need great franchise partners to understand the culture of Papa John’s.”
“We are in better shape than we have ever been, and we need to keep finding great franchise partners to ensure that we keep growing.

“Our UK team is so enthusiastic about our ‘better ingredients, better pizza’ message and we want to instil that message into more people.”

Mr Saunders added: “There has been a real buzz around Papa John’s in the UK over the last few months and I think people sat up and took notice when John Schnatter came to this country and gave such a bright prediction for the future.

“For those plans to be successful a number of key objectives need to be met, including the acquisition of over 215 new sites and the recruitment of a number of new multi-unit franchise partners. The director of property and franchising will play a huge part in this, so Alan’s position is vital.
